1. Mheshimiwa
Mheshimiwa is coming,
my aunt tells me
every woman at noon
be under the village's mugumo tree.
my aunt tells me
every woman at noon
be under the village's mugumo tree.
Mheshiwa has something for women
a kilo of unga
a kanga - with his photo and slogan
and fifty shillings each!
a kilo of unga
a kanga - with his photo and slogan
and fifty shillings each!
Mheshiwa wants our kura,
my aunt tells me
you see kijana
last uchaguzi he gave us this -
she points at a cup, and promises.
my aunt tells me
you see kijana
last uchaguzi he gave us this -
she points at a cup, and promises.
Mheshiwa alichaguliwa,
her smile fades
he disappeared just to return to day
five years!
she screams as she gathers her basket
it is a coffee picking day.
her smile fades
he disappeared just to return to day
five years!
she screams as she gathers her basket
it is a coffee picking day.
