For Monica and I
Do you remember the days
Do you remember the times
Seated ushering the nights
And morn’ waking slumbers
Round tables full of treats?
That was life as we knew it
You and I;
In a land far forgotten
Simple, serene yet desolate
So alienated.
We set the pace, they aped
We smiled, they laughed
We made a difference,
A permanent print of our tenure.
